The Royal treatment post-birth with Wholefood Child

Not everyone gets the Royal treatment after they give birth, which is why Thermomix aims to make life as easy as possible when it comes to childhood nutrition.

As well as the birth of Royal baby Sussex this week, we’re super excited about the arrival of our brand new cookbook with Louise Keats!

Wholefood Child is available today and it is packed with 85+ recipes designed to nourish post-baby bodies and demystify the information-saturated cosmos that is post-natal and childhood nutrition.

Wholefood Child is available at TheMix Shop and through your Thermomix consultant.

Along with your Thermomix, Wholefood Child is that extra set of hands in the kitchen that makes all the difference when creating quick and nutritious food when you’re adjusting to life with a newborn. It is also full of delicious meals for the entire family, and helpful ideas to incorporate a wide variety of food into your children diets from the very beginning.

“I use a Thermomix because I know that I can create wholesome and nourishing meals for my family from scratch without spending hours in the kitchen,” says Louise.

Here, Louise offers three things that she wishes to share with every soon-to-be or new mother:

ONE

“Being a new mother is one of the most exhilarating and exhausting times of a woman’s life. Your emotions are running high, your energy is running low and you are now responsible for a vulnerable tiny human. So please be kind to yourself.”

Avocado whip on seedy spelt bread02_sml

Try Seedy Spelt Bread with Avocado Whip: Spelt is an ancient grain with less gluten than regular wheat, many people find it easier to digest. Adding additional seeds to the dough boost the protein and nutrients of the bread.

TWO

Do not rush to lose weight after giving birth!! I wish women weren’t even allowed to utter the term baby-weight until at least 6 to 12 months after birth. I want women to nourish themselves, to eat and drink the energy and vitamin rich wholefoods they need to fuel their bodies, and especially when breastfeeding, provide nutrients to their babies.

Cauliflower Soup01_sml

Try Turmeric Cauliflower Soup: This delicious soup is like liquid gold for a new parent. The Cauliflower is packed with fibre, folate and vitamin C and potassium, while the leek and onion are both good sources of prebiotics, which support your gut health. Turmeric also has amazing anti-inflammatory properties.

THREE

“The days are long, but the years are short”. I think remembering that everything is ‘just a phase’, that the hard times will pass and that in the blink of an eye your little munchkins are going to be all grown up, so just treasure each day and squeeze them that bit harder. I try to soak up my time with my children as much as I can while trying to keep everything else in my life running somewhat smoothly at the same time. I tend to cook a lot in my Thermomix too, so that I can make quick and easy meals and snacks for my family.

Spinach and Coriander Pesto

Try Spinach and Coriander Pesto: Made with seeds, garlic, lemon and greens, this pesto is one of the most nutrient-dense foods imaginable, so I try to use it whenever I can. Plus, it’s totally delicious! When you’re time poor, it’s great to have on hand to spoon on to a jacket potato or a boiled egg – or even just some sourdough toast – for an instant, tasty meal.
