So many people asked me about Thermomix that I had to try it out. It has replaced my food processor, and is also my go-to appliance when I want a quick sauce or dinner in a hurry. It’s like having an extra pair of hands in the kitchen.
My Thermomix has been part of my life since 2007. I’m sure those magic blades have spun a billion times, feeding my family, catering for barbecues and parties, acting as my trusty kitchen helper and enabler.

Mark Best is one of Australia’s top culinary names. At home Mark cooks simply. The French and Italian regional dishes he favours are often limited to one pot, which is guided by his taste buds as much as his family’s self-regulating rule, “He who cooks does the dishes”. This adage is only made easier by the use of the Thermomix both in the restaurant and at home.
As one of the first in Australia to purchase a Thermomix, I fell in love with it from the first time I set eyes on it at my first demonstration in 2001. Since then, I’ve always enjoyed experimenting with conventional recipes that would suit preparation in the Thermomix, and adapting them to suit, then sharing my recipes with friends, family and clients.
It’s an absolute pleasure to work with a Thermomix, and it makes light work of hard chores such as making curry paste, soups and sauces. Plus, the added benefit of being able to weigh my ingredients in the Thermomix means less washing up. I can’t imagine any of my kitchens being without a Thermomix.
My Thermomix is like having an apprentice chef in the kitchen at home. Yes, it sounds a bit odd, but it’s like having an extra pair of hands that chops, purées, kneads stirs and cooks while I’m off doing other things in the kitchen...and it doesn’t answer back!
Seriously though, I’ve got so many pieces of kitchen equipment at home that have rarely been used since we bought our Thermomix, it’s ta...

Some of the recipes in my cook books have Thermomix instructions. I have found Thermomix to be the most advanced and versatile kitchen appliance on the market today. Offering over 10 appliances in one compact unit, it is an essential piece of equipment in our kitchen, saving us time and money.

Comedian Woody Allen tells this story about when he was young, his father came home from work one day and announced he'd lost his job. He'd been replaced by a gadget that could do everything he could do, but better. The real tragedy, recalls Woody, was that his mother went and bought one. I have found such a device. It's the Thermomix TM31 and it's the mother of all kitchen appliances.
Because of Thermomix I have been able to throw away so much of my bulky kitchen equipment. This machine is a blessing!
The Thermomix (or "Herbie" as he is affectionately nicknamed by me) is an incredible help to me in my restaurant. Not only am I making fantastic risottos, sauces, sorbets and cakes but I can proudly say I now make my own butter and mascarpone Cheese for the most delicious tiramisu!
I actually love this machine and can’t get enough of it.
